The hospitality industry touches more lives than almost any other sector — the people who work in it, the communities that surround it, and the environment that sustains it. At Asianhotelier.org, we believe that how the industry develops its people is inseparable from how it responds to the world's most pressing challenges. That belief shapes everything we build.
In 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals — a shared blueprint for a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous world by 2030. From decent work and quality education to responsible consumption and climate action, the SDGs speak directly to the hospitality industry in ways that are practical, not abstract.
Hotels employ millions. They shape local economies and influence the livelihoods of entire communities. The question is not whether hospitality has a role in achieving the SDGs — it is whether the people leading and working in the industry are equipped to play that role well. That is where we come in.

How a property manages energy, water, waste, and its footprint on the natural world that sustains tourism.
How the industry treats its people and communities — from fair work to inclusion, wellbeing, and opportunity.
How decisions are made, measured, and held accountable — the standards that build trust with owners and guests.
ESG — Environmental, Social, and Governance — is the framework through which businesses are increasingly expected to measure, report, and improve their impact. For the hospitality industry, ESG is no longer a compliance exercise reserved for large hotel groups and listed companies. It is becoming the language of investor relations, owner expectations, brand standards, and talent attraction at every level of the market.
Asianhotelier.org is developing training and resources that translate ESG from boardroom language into operational practice — helping hoteliers at every level understand what it means for their role, their property, and their professional development.
No platform changes an industry alone. Sustainable Development Goal 17 calls for partnerships that mobilise knowledge, expertise, and resources in service of shared goals — and that principle sits at the heart of how Asianhotelier.org is built.
