Mondi Mecja was appointed as Country General Manager for Ascott Malaysia in September 2019. In this role, he is responsible for enhancing Ascott’s presence and driving greater results for the brand in the county.
Prior joining Ascott Malaysia, Mondi was the Area General Manager overseeing 4 hotels under Berjaya Group – Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Berjaya Tioman Resort, Berjaya Eden Park London Hotel and The Castleton London Hotel. Before his engagement with Berjaya Group, Mondi was also worked in various sections, holding Senior Executive positions in Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur and Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa Kuala Lumpur.
He oversaw various work areas including business development, operations as well as the formalisation and standardisation of business systems and processes within the Berjaya Group, Starwood Group and Sunway Hotels & Resorts. In depth experience in sales and marketing, revenue management, front and back of house operations, business development and asset management skills.
Besides, being an effective leader in the hospitality industry; Mondi is very passionate about giving back to the community. This has been portrayed in his involvement and being a compassionate personality in Creating Shared Value; he embeds it firmly into all parts of his professional involvements as part of the intrinsic value of services and guest satisfaction.
Holding a Bachelor of Human Sciences degree, Mondi brings over 22 years of management experience in the hospitality industry. He plays an active role as the Vice President of Malaysian Association of Hotels Kuala Lumpur Chapter through active participations and being supportive in all the industry events organized by MAH throughout the years. He was recently awarded the Leadership Personality Award (Most Outstanding) at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2018-2020.
